Have you ever heard of a place which serves as a café, a library, a meditation studio and a fabulous clothing store? Well, B.A.D Café, located in posh Pali Hill, Mumbai, happens to be one such unique melting pot. Offering delicious Spanish dishes and incorporating a beautiful black and white colour scheme, the B.A.D Café is a place where you can take part in a meditation session before your breakfast, read a book while your food gets prepared or follow up your lunch by shopping for some new clothes. It is, without a doubt, one of the most unique, intriguing and fun cafés to dine at.
The idea for B.A.D Café came to the minds of siblings Bhavana and Amit Dhanani (#TheBADSiblings) when they were living in Spain. Possessed by wanderlust, Bhavana and Amit garnered an expertise in cooking Spanish food and teaching Chinese Yin Yoga, respectively. With the motive of introducing Spanish culture and cuisine in India, the siblings decided to open up B.A.D Café in Mumbai. Having successfully launched B.A.D Café in December 2015, the brother-sister duo believes that their dream structure will serve as the perfect abbreviation for “Bringing a Difference”.
If visiting this unique Spanish restaurant is now on your agenda, here’s a heads up from our end. Firstly, you should know that this café has been divided into three sections; Soul (café area), Body (Yoga Studio) and Mind (Library and Community). ‘The Soul’ is where you get to order and eat some delicious Spanish dishes, ‘The Body’ houses the yoga studio where Bhavana Dhanani takes sessions on Chinese yoga, and ‘The Mind’ is where you can satisfy your craving for designer clothes and accessories in traditional Indian fabrics.
Being Tapas-centric, the menu at B.A.D Café features an enticing collection of dishes that are inspired by Amit’s journeys around the world. From this menu, we recommend you to try out their Jamon Jamon Salad with Serrano Ham, their Piña y Coco (a pineapple and coconut salad) and their Fresca, a beautiful combination of strawberries, lettuce and Ementhal cheese served with a boat shaped B.A.D baked bread.
If you are a Mumbaikar, you can just head towards the Pali Hill area in Bandra West and take the New Kantiwadi Road to reach B.A.D Café. If you don’t live in Mumbai and still wish to visit this unique café, just take a flight to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and you’ll be there in no time as it is only 10 Kms away from the airport.
